The Santa Lucia Open Dog Obedience Group [ SLODOG] provides residents of the central coast of California opportunities to interact with their dogs in a social setting.
We are an all breed and mixed breed club, meaning all dog breeds and mixed breed dogs are welcome in SLODOG. Our members are companion dog owners who simply desire more ways to enjoy their pets and join SLODOG for the social connection we offer. Many members are active in canine competitions, including formal obedience, rally, conformation, canine nose work, and agility. Others enjoy sharing their dogs with residents in care facilities and local schools.
Another important activity is our involvement in public outreach. We participate in many local events showcasing responsible dog ownership. We provide exhibitions and education concerning dog ownership, care, training, and recreation. We believe that well trained dogs have more fun.
SLODOG provides guidance and mentoring to those seeking to become involved in canine competition and therapy dog work. As a sanctioned UKC club, we host a Nosework Trial yearly and newcomers are encouraged to become actively involved in the events the club hosts.
Membership is encouraged for anyone eager to enjoy an active life with their dog. You are welcome to join us at our general membership meetings, our monthly run through sessions, or our weekly informal practices. Please feel free to contact us if you have questions.
